kommunikation.medien is aimed specifically at young academics who wish to present the results of their final or qualification theses in the field of Media and Communication Studies to a broader specialist audience. The main focus is on dealing with questions relating to the mutual relationships between communication, media and society.

Open Access Journal for Young Academics
The Open Access journal kommunikation.medien has been published by the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Salzburg as part of a master’s project since 2012. kommunikation.medien appears once or twice a year and is available as a freely accessible online journal. The individual issues are usually published at the end of June. Contributions are advertised in an open or thematic Call for Papers, which is usually sent out in autumn. However, interested authors are invited to contact the editorial staff at any time if they have concrete ideas and suggestions for contributions outside the regular publication rhythm of kommunikation.medien. All contributions are subject to an anonymous peer review procedure in the interests of quality assurance.
